Tasting note: Produced from a south-sloping parcel considered to be the finest sub-plot of the Faugères vineyard, this luxury cuvée has been fabulous since its debut vintage in 1998. The dense purple-coloured, medium to full-bodied 2001 Peby Faugères boasts a flamboyant perfume of espresso roast, melted chocolate, camphor, blackberries, crème de cassis liqueur, and a hint of sweet toasty oak. This opulent, full-bodied, concentrated offering possesses ripe, well-integrated tannin. Give it 3-5 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 15-16. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate June 2004
