Lot Essay

Obsidian is a type of naturally occurring glass produced when lava cools without sufficient time for crystal growth. It consists mainly of SiO2 or quartz, 70 or more. While pure obsidian is always dark in appearance, the colour varies depending on the presence of impurities. Iron and magnesium typically give the rock a dark green or brown to black colour as seen in these spheres.
