With its highly decorative trompe l'oeil decoration, this cupboard is part of the oeuvre of Antonio Bianchi, a well-known cabinet-maker of Italian origin who was established in Macclesfield, England during the second half of the 19th century. Bianchi went into partnership with another Italian-born furniture maker living in Macclesfield: Antonio Arighi. This joint venture led to the founding of the very successful home furnishings company named Arighi Bianchi.
