AFTER A GILLOWS DESIGN, EARLY 19TH CENTURY
The rectangular top with an everted waived gallery above two mahogany-lined end frieze drawers, on lyre-end supports and leaf-carved downswept legs, with scrolled feet with sunk brass castors, with dished stretcher, previously with a work basket, stamped '625', one drawer with chalk inscription 'SHO'

Lot Essay

The waived gallery design of this work table relates to two Gillows designs among the Gillow Estimate and Drawings and Costings for 1825 (numbers 3480 and 3496 - see illustration). Two tables following these designs were sold anonymously, Sotheby's, London, 9 July 1993, lot 268.
