With loop handle above a domed cover with pierced fretwork frieze, the case painted with flowering urns and floral decoration, an oval glass pane on each side, on a moulded rectangular base with later wooden plinth, fitted for electricity

Lot Essay

This lantern with its carrying-handle and lightness of metal was designed to be easily portable. Its solid base and sealed sides distinguish it from contemporary hall lantern designs, making it suitable for outside use.
