A comparable George II walnut side chair was offered from the Chatsworth Collection, Christie's, London, 26 June 1958, lot 109. This chair has similarly carved cabriole legs headed by scrolled acanthus.

Lord Auckland', The Old Palace Yard', blocks largely replaced, ears largely original, pegged construction
