Lot Essay

La Fiorentina was revived by Lady Kenmare and her son Rory Cameron (described by the decorator Billy Baldwin as 'like an Apollo with a splendid tan') and became the ne plus ultra of entertaining on the Côte d'Azur. Rory Cameron's triumphal redecoration encompassed superb 18th century French pieces, Maison Jansen mirrored furniture, Giambologna bronzes, all arranged in a spare, but supremely comfortable interior, ultimately inspired by Florentine villas of the 16th century.
