The Norweigan artist Sinding first carved this group in 1882. This was a breakthrough group for him which attracted the patronage of Dr.Carl Jacobsen over the following twenty-six years, most of these subsequent works were displayed in the NY Carlsberg Glyptothek, Copenhagen.
