A collection of 13 works by H.A. van Ingen
(lots 352-...)
H.A. van Ingen's oeuvre consists of forest scenes and landscapes oftern staffaged with cows. Like Mauve and Troyon he ahs the facility of seeing cattle in relation to their natural environment.
The sometimes intimate and melancholy landscapes are rendered in the spirit of the Barbizon- and Hague School.
A direct influence seems unlikely: Van Ingen hardly ever left his hometown Renkum and was basicly selftaught painters.
Van Ingen's silver-grey tones and poëtical approach resembles that of Matthijs Maris early work.
Not withstanding the fact they never met, they were admirers of each others work.
