QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
Of cinquefoil form, the top finely carved with a scene of two scholars drinking wine and conversing while a demon-like attendant kneels beside the wine jar, all on a promontory of land surrounded by the waters of a lake, with a pavilion and willow tree on the opposite bank and with pine-studded mountains in the distance, all within a narrow border of bats, peaches and flowers above a dense ground of swirling waves on the sides, the foot carved with a band of key fret
