Each cup with wide, flaring mouth tapering to a cylindrical base and flanked by long strap handles extending from the mouth rim to the base, the top of each handle with small circular indentations in imitation of leather; together with a white pottery cup of ovoid form with a single strap handle, Neolithic period, Dawenkou culture, circa 4300-2400 BC

Lot Essay

A simple ring handle, such as on the present white pottery cup, is a common feature of Dawenkou culture cups.
