A RARE LONGQUAN CELADON EWER
YUAN/MING DYNASTY, 14TH-15TH CENTURY
Of ovoid form, with plain, slightly raised band on the shoulder interrupted by the tall curved spout and the strap handle carved wtih two grooves near the pointed terminal, the tall, waisted neck encircled by a narrow rib and with a bow-string band at its base, covered overall with a glaze of soft sea-green color which also covers the base

Collection of Dickson Reck, purchased in the 1930s or 1940s.

A virtually identical Longquan celadon ewer dated to the 14th century in the Percival David Foundation is illustrated in Oriental Ceramics, The World's Great Collections, vol. 6, Tokyo, 1982, no. 72.
