The shallow sides flaring very slightly from the flat unglazed base to the rim, covered inside and out with an opaque glaze of pale blue tone pooling slightly at the unglazed beveled foot rim

Lot Essay

Although of larger size, the shape and color of the glaze of this brushwasher are most likely based on Guan ware brushwashers of the Song dynasty. See those illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - 33 - Porcelain of the Song Dynasty (II), Hong Kong, 1996, nos. 9, 10 and 13.
