No.7, with button-up collar and embroidered cloth badge, inscribed Manchester United Football Club, the reverse lettered Cantona; a framed letter of provenance signed by John Moncur, dated 20th May 1997, stating that the Manchester United shirt was gained by him as a swap with Eric Cantona after the match against West Ham United on 11th May 1997; and a newspaper cutting from The Sun, dated 7th June 1997 depicting the vendor of the shirt after she had won it in a competition run by the newspaper

Lot Essay

The above Manchester United shirt is the one worn by Eric Cantona in his last Premiership game for Manchester United against West Ham United on 11th May 1997. The shirt was gained as a swap by the West Ham United player John Moncur who then gave it to The Sun newspaper to offer it as a prize in a contest run by the newspaper.
