The Group was founded in 1932 by my grandfather and great uncle and floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1962. For the last 70 years, its Head Office has been a large converted Victorian mansion, at Haden Cross, Halesowen. In the early 1980s, the Directors of the company would regularly entertain stockbrokers, analysts and institutional shareholders at Haden Cross. H.W. Keil of Broadway, Worcestershire was commissioned to design and furnish an impressive board room, dining room and reception area, using 16th, 17th and 18th century oak and walnut furniture and period works of art. Today, our business is conducted in a very different way and the extravagant surroundings of the past are no longer required.
