Modelled as the Sikhs versus the Romans, the one side with stained black bases
The king -- 3¾in. (9.7cm.) high; the pawn -- 2 3/8in. (6cm.) high

See Victor Keats, Chessmen for Collectors, Batsford, London 1985, page 29, pl. 29. Keats notes that these bust type pieces are also known as 'Sahib' sets, carved in the area around Dehli, from the second half 20th century.
