The kings with Maltese cross finials, the queens with fleur-de-lis, the rooks as castellated towers surmounted by a smaller turrets, restained
The king -- 5in. (12.7cm.) high; the pawn -- 2¼in. (5.7cm.) high

See Victor Keats,The Illustrated Guide to World Chess Sets, Batsford 1985. Page 126, ill. 148. shows a similar typical set made by the Hastilow family, who carved and sold sets through three generations between 1810-1904.
