This sculpture is remarkable for its graceful elongated forms characteristic for Pallava stone sculpture. The sculptor has focussed on the overall form and balance of shapes; the position with left hand at the hip carries on into early Chola period sculpture, compare with the sculptures of Kumbakonam, see V. Dehejia, Art of the Imperial Cholas, 1990, figs. 10 and 12.
