A gilt bronze figure of Amitayus
Tibeto-Chinese, 17th century
Well-cast seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with hands in dhyana mudra cradling the vessel of immortality, wearing a diaphanous dhoti, billowing sash, multiple necklaces and large earrings, his face sensitively modeled with a serene expression and full polychromed lips and eyes beneath gently arched brows, his hair rising into a tiered ushnisha with a jeweled finial and secured with a large foliate tiara, richly gilt overall, the base sealed and incised with a double-vajra
