This bureau-secretaire is a copy of the celebrated model produced by the workshop of Jean-François Oeben, but which may have been made by Jean-François Leleu. It was bought by Richard Wallace for the 4th Marquess of Hertford at the Earl of Clare sale, Christie's, 16 June 1864.
Please see lot 6 for a note on Sormani.
