Five women around a pond and four in the background on the beach. This composition is almost classical for Le Mayeur. Early in this new style, the end of the fourties, he still paints the elongated arms, strange feet, and spots of light on backs, arms, water, and leaves by adding little dots of white paint.
The authenticity of this lot has kindly been confirmed by Drs Cathinka Huizing after first hand examination.
