Lot Essay

After searching for his identity, and what he had to contribute to his community, Sudarisman's goal became to show the contrasts in everything. At the same time however, he wants to obtain harmony and unity by mixing realistic and abstract expressions. Sudarisman has a lot of respect for his traditional society as one can see in the Erotic Dancer. He sympathizes with marginalized people, like this dancer, who are active in traditional art forms. The erotic dance as depicted here has been prohibited by the government and only a very few of these dancers are still active in village performances.
