A Small Parcel-Gilt Bronze Figure and Two Bronze Vases
Meiji period (late 19th century), the first vase signed Sei'un; the second vase signed Hidemitsu kan sei
The figure cast as a chubby-cheeked boy looking up as he stands with a travelling sack and sandals draped around his neck, his robes decorated with vines and family crests, wood stand with gold-lacquer scrolling vines; the first vase flattened, compressed ovoid with a square neck and designed with lobed panels of blossoming plum trees and bamboo and irises in sunken and low relief with inlays of shakudo and copper, the neck flush-inlaid with a floret and vines in copper, gold and shakudo; the second vase of elongated baluster form with a bird in a cherry tree in high relief, eyes highlighted with gold
