Edo period (19th century), signed Toyo utsusu (After a design by Toyo)
Designed in gold, silver, red and black takamaki-e and inlaid-shell and gold and red hiramaki-e and togidashi on a black ground with sparse hirame with two courtiers assisting a retired emperor, the reverse with a pavilion roof beneath a large pine tree, interior nashiji; fitted with an ivory Daruma ojime signed Tomomasa and a wood Daruma netsuke with inlaid-amber eyes, signed Sukenaga in a rounded-rectangular reserve
