The first carved as a seated kirin, his head turned back looking upward as he opens his mouth in a roar, flames emerging from his mouth and emanating from his sides, eyes inlaid in dark horn; the second as a Chinese lion reclining as her cub crawls on her back, their curly tails and manes carved with fine lines darkly stained, the mother with a free-moving ball in her mouth
