A UNIQUE GROUP OF CANTONESE MOTHER-OF-PEARL MONOGRAMMED GAMING TOKENS, variously of rectangular and circular shape, engraved with roundels containing Chinese figures and eagles with flower-sprays in the spandrels, and the monogram 'L', possibly the personal property of Captain Lyell, commissioned and purchased from a local workshop during his autumn sojourn in Canton, circa 1816
