Painted in the manner of Thomas Baxter with conchologic still lifes with various specimen of shells, further with seaweed and coral, against a shady light brownish background (within an elaborate gilt wooden frame)

See J. Murdoch and J. Twitchett, Painters and the Derby China Works, London, 1987, p. 101, no. 51 for a sketch in watercolour and gouache by Joseph Bancroft, watermarked for 1824-5, when Bancroft was in between factories, which bears a similar look to these shell plaques.
