TIGNANELLO IN 5-LITER GRAND FORMAT
Produced by Antinori, a family firm which celebrated its 600th anniversary in 1985, Tignanello rarely needs an introduction. This wine well known to collectors the world over. Tignanello was one of the first of its kind, a Super Tuscan table wine, that regularly exceeded wines in higher D.O.C.G. classifications. Its crime was to introduce foreign varietals in favor of the commonly used white varietals in a less enlightend time. Tignanello is often a blend of 80 Sangiovese, 15 Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5 Cabernet Franc and is aged in French oak casks, not the more commonly used botti used by many Chianti estates.
Tignanello's debut in 1970 actually included traditional white varietals but this was discontinued in 1975. Tignanello is often refered to as the "Original Super-Tuscan".
Tignanello--Vintage 1979
