Lot Essay

Kathryn Janeway wasn't the first female starship captain on Star Trek. That honor went to the commander of the Starship Saratoga, played by Madge Sinclair in the opening scenes of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. Nevertheless, Captain Janeway, portrayed by Kate Mulgrew, was the first female character to be the lead of a Star Trek television series. This chair is an important symbol of this significant character.
