Kathryn Janeway knew that she needed to be a strong leader in order for her people to survive their treacherous escape from the Delta Quadrant, but in quiet moments alone, she allowed herself to relax. These artifacts reflect aspects of her personal life. One such item is the small bronze casting of an Irish Setter. In "Caretaker," the pilot episode of Star Trek: Voyager, we learned that Janeway had a pet Irish Setter named Molly, whom she had left behind, and missed greatly.
