Lot Essay

"Far Beyond the Stars" was the allegorical tale of 1950's science fiction writer Benny Russell, who may - or may not - be a figment of Captain Sisko's imagination. Russell was played by Sisko actor Avery Brooks, who also directed the episode. The major setting for this episode was the editorial office of Incredible Tales, a 1950's science fiction magazine. The art in this lot was all prepared for use as set dressing in that set. It includes sketches of fanciful robots, mutant insects, bizarre aliens, amazing spaceships, and damsels in distress, all done in the delightful 1950's science fiction pulp style.
