Gul Dukat spent most of his career as an officer of the Cardassian military, fighting the followers of the Bajoran prophets. Ironically, he later came to respect the power of the Bajoran religion as he became a follower of the evil pah-wraiths, a power that ultimately led to Dukat's destruction.
