The Starship Defiant was first seen on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in "The Search". Although the station already had three runabouts for transport purposes, the Defiant played a key role in the Dominion War. With the addition of the Defiant to the Deep Space Nine sets came the opportunity to add new Starfleet-style set dressings and props, including these nifty serving trays.
