A bowtie-shaped, pedestal mounted Cardassian wall replicator prop, constructed from wood, painted as metallic pewter with acrylic plastic and plastic laminate inserts, with untested backlit Cardassian control panels and an open chamber for food replication -- 74x59x13in. -- used as set dressing on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Replicators were introduced into the Star Trek universe during Star Trek: The Next Generation, so they were familiar equipment by the time Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was produced. Zimmerman took the opportunity, however, to give Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's versions a distinctively alien flair.
