Benjamin Sisko, played by Avery Brooks, commanded space station Deep Space Nine. Sisko's official role was to manage the former Cardassian mining station to protect the Bajoran people. But to the Bajoran people, he was something much more. His discovery of the mysterious life-forms in the Bajoran wormhole meant that he was the savior that had been prophesied by ancient teachings. Sisko was uncomfortable with his role as the Prophet, but over the next seven years, he did indeed save the Bajoran people from unimaginable dangers.
