William Ware Theiss designed the first-season versions of the Star Trek: The Next Generation uniforms. During the third season, Robert Blackman updated them. Blackman retained the sleek futuristic look of Theiss's originals, while making them slightly more businesslike and a little more comfortable for the cast.
