A LARGE BLUE AND WHITE 'SCHOLAR AND EMBLEMS' OVAL TUREEN, COVER AND STAND, of compressed bombé shape with double-loop handles with vine-relief terminals, the double-domed cover with elaborate lotus bud 'mushroom' finial and petal collar, each side, the stand and cover finely painted with a lakescape depicting an elaborate pavilion on a promontory beside twinned pine and deciduous trees above a scholar crossing a single-arched bridge towards a second pavilion below dwellings on a smaller island in the distance, the borders with cartouches of ribboned emblems, circa 1816
