During the seventh season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deanna Troi undertook a field training program. Upon completion in "Thine Own Self" in Star Trek: The Next Generation, she was promoted to the rank of full commander and was certified to serve bridge duty. She also got to wear this regular uniform.
