Lot Essay

This model was featured in the main title sequence of the later seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. It represents a planetary nebula, a cloud of dust and gas, swirling in a disk around a newborn star. During filming, a light bulb was inserted into the center opening to represent the star. Concentric bands represent rings of dust, while clumps in the rings represent planets being formed from that dust.
