During the two pilot episodes for the original series, female crew members wore slacks and shirts. After the introduction of the minidress uniform in the first regular episode, the women's shirts remained in use, mostly for background players, and could sometimes be seen in the ship's corridors. Black collars were added for use after the pilots.
