A BLUE AND WHITE 'SCHOLAR AND EMBLEMS' OVAL FISH-DISH AND STRAINER, with broad recessed rim containing the flat strainer pierced with a central finger hole surrounded by three bands of small drainage holes, the interior of the dish and centre of the cover finely painted with a lakescape depicting an elaborate pavilion on a promontory beside twinned pine and deciduous trees above a scholar crossing a single-arched bridge towards a second pavilion below dwellings on a smaller island in the distance, the borders with cartouches of ribboned emblems, the underside with peony sprays, circa 1816
