A LARGE BLUE AND WHITE 'SCHOLAR AND EMBLEMS' CHAFING DISH, with broad troughed rim, each end with a square hot-water channel and steam vent, pierced on the top with a cash motif, the centre finely painted with a lakescape depicting an elaborate pavilion on a promontory beside twinned pine and deciduous trees above a scholar crossing a single-arched bridge towards a second pavilion below dwellings on a smaller island in the distance, the borders with cartouches of ribboned emblems, the deep sides with peony sprays, circa 1816
