Although the construction of these flamboyant chairs is typically Italian, the exaggerated profile of the legs and back, unusual for Italian seat furniture, may point to a Spanish origin. A console with similarly exaggerated profile to the legs, combined with similar low relief-carved foliate ornament and large scale apron, in the Sacristy of the Comendadoras, Madrid, is illustrated in L.
