Lot Essay

The decoration on the present bottle coolers used at Sèvres as early as 1756, is associated a service presented to Carl Theodore, Elector of the Palatinate, in 1760, most of which is retained in the Residenzmuseum, Munich. This popular pattern appears with some regularity in the ledgers of the factory's production primarily during the third quarter of the 18th century.

Denis Levé is recorded at Vincennes and Sèvres as a painter specializing in flowers, patterns and birds 1754-1793 and again 1795-1805.
