The circular white enamel dial with Arabic chapters with circular central viewing aperture displaying the movement, within a square case with foliate spandrels and surmounted by a pinecone finial, to the left with a reclining female figure reading and a putto figure playing with a globe and compass representing Literature and Geography, the ends mounted with oval portrait medallions, upon a rectangular base with beaded edges and relief frieze with panels of frolicking putti, on oak-leaf-cast circular feet
