Each with a pierced cartouche-shaped back and floral-carved cabriole legs and scrolled feet, the removeable back and drop in seat covered in crimson and beige Fortuny pattern, one bearing a paper label printed '91 700' and incribed in black ink '6', the other inscribed with multiple numerals written in ink (2)

Lot Essay

There are a pair of nearly identical armchairs, part of a larger set, that are in the Palazzo Quirinale, Rome as well as another group in the Palazzo Patrizi (see A. González-Palacios, I mobili Italiani: il patrimonio artistico del Quirinale, Milan, 1996, no. 106, p. 287.)
