No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VA… Read more The scenes of 'Enlèvement' or kidnap in the 347 series belong to the larger theme of La Célestine; Picasso's imagination was fuelled by the episodes of abductions, gypsey camps, travelling actors and other images typical of this Spanish picaresque novel. By using steel wool to draw the figures and varnish to create a greyish-white tonality the scenes are given more mysterious energy and ghostly atmosphere.
