Original boards (neatly rebacked to style in blue cloth, old crease to upper cover). Provenance: Captain J.F. Parry (inscribed twice, dated 1893 and 27 Sept. 1910) -- Hugh Robert Mill (inscription dated 27 May 1927) -- Scott Polar Research Institute (ink stamp on title and front pastedown).
An important source work, covering the early period of British Arctic and Antarctic exploration. This copy from the library of H.R. Mill, Shackleton's first biographer, the librarian at the Royal Geographical Society, a geographer, meteorologist and oceanographer and the man who re-organised the scientific arrangements on the Discovery, and sailed with Scott's Discovery as far as Madeira in 1901.
