Château Pichon-Longueville, Lalande--Vintage 1966
Pauillac, 2me cru classé
Two slightly discoloured labels. Levels two into neck and four base of neck
Not in original wooden case
Tasting Note: Picked from 23 September to 12 October. Good wine. Even in its early years (1967) soft and agreeable. Most recently, its appearance reminded me of my father's old Labrador, lying on its back waiting to be tickled: soft, mature, a warm open-rimmed rosehip and orange colour; an instantly forthcoming bouquet, soft, lovely, gently singed, cedary; on the palate a reasonable touch of sweetness with a clean dry finish. Somewhat faded but holding up. The oldest vintage at Christie's Pichon-Lalande masterclass, March 1995 **** M.B.
