Lot Essay

Abraham Louis Breguet invented the tourbillon regulator in 1795 and later patented the mechanism in 1801. Almost two centuries later, the firm of Breguet continues in his great tradition and now produces a wide variety of wristwatches featuring the tourbillon.

The present watch, bearing the case number 1282 G, comes accompanied by a letter from Montres Breguet SA, dated December 1994, confirming that this tourbillon piece with perpetual calendar is the very first piece of this Breguet reference to have been sold worldwide.
